Hata.io is a Malaysia-based cryptocurrency exchange that has rapidly established itself as a significant player in the digital asset market. Founded by David Low, the former Asia Pacific General Manager of Luno Malaysia, Hata.io aims to provide secure and user-friendly access to cryptocurrencies for both retail and institutional investor.

In July 2024, Hata.io obtained full approval from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to operate as a Digital Asset Exchange (DAX). This approval positions Hata.io as the fifth licensed DAX in Malaysia, underscoring its commitment to regulatory compliance and investor protection.

Product Offerings

Hata.io offers a diverse range of cryptocurrency pairs, including major assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), as well as emerging tokens such as Worldcoin (WLD), Cosmos (ATOM), and Polkadot (DOT). The platform supports trading in both Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and US Dollar (USD), catering to a broad spectrum of investors.

Innovative Features

Demonstrating its commitment to innovation, Hata.io has introduced a 30% revenue-sharing affiliate program, incentivizing users to refer others to the platform. Additionally, the exchange offers zero trading fees on major pairs, enhancing its appeal to cost-conscious traders

Funding and Expansion

In October 2024, Hata.io announced a successful seed funding round, raising $4.2 million. The capital is earmarked for expanding product offerings and user acquisition in the Asia Pacific region, reflecting the company's growth ambitions.

Leadership

Under the leadership of CEO David Low, who played a pivotal role in launching Malaysia's first DAX in 2019, Hata.io leverages extensive industry experience to navigate the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.

Hata.io's strategic initiatives and adherence to regulatory standards position it as a trusted and innovative platform in Malaysia's cryptocurrency sector.

The funding round was led by U.S. institutional investors Castle Island Ventures and Cadenza Ventures, both of whom will join Hata's Board of Directors.

Hata.io holds dual licenses from the Securities Commission Malaysia and the Labuan Financial Services Authority, enabling it to serve both Malaysian and international users. The exchange aims to cater to retail and institutional investors who prefer trading in fiat currencies such as the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and U.S. Dollar (USD).

The leadership team at Hata.io comprises CEO David Low, a qualified lawyer and former General Manager of Luno’s Asia Pacific operations; CTO KK Chong, a former university lecturer and co-founder of a blockchain solutions company; and CRO Darien Ng, who brings over 15 years of experience in the tech industry.

The newly acquired funds will be utilized to develop new products and accelerate user acquisition in the Asian market, positioning Hata.io to compete with established players in the region's digital asset space.
